蘇格蘭百富全新單桶12年陳釀上市

When visitors take a guided tour of The Balvenie distillery, they can draw whisky directly from a cask in Warehouse 24 – and now single malt Scotch whisky connoisseurs can enjoy a similar ‘straight-from-the-cask’ experience wherever in the world they live, with the release of The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill, Aged 12 Years.

參觀蘇格蘭百富酒廠有個有趣的環節就是可以在著名的24號倉庫里自己親手從酒桶中灌裝一瓶心儀的蘇格蘭百富，現在全世界的威士忌鑒賞家們可以足不出戶享受到同樣的直接來自酒桶的體驗—蘇格蘭百富初次灌裝單一桶12年陳釀。

The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill has been matured exclusively in a first fill ex-Bourbon barrel for 12 years. The ex-Bourbon barrels are brought over from America and when they are used to mature Scotch whisky for the first time, they are known as ‘first fill’ barrels. These American oak barrels, which are cared for by The Balvenie’s own coopers, impart distinctive notes of vanilla and spice to the maturing spirit. 

蘇格蘭百富初次灌裝單一桶陳釀只在初次使用的美國波本橡木桶中熟成12年。之所以名叫“初次灌裝”，是因為這些來自美國的波本橡木酒桶是第一次用來熟成蘇格蘭威士忌。這些優質的美國橡木桶由蘇格蘭百富酒廠自有桶匠細心呵護，給熟成的酒液帶來了獨特的香草以及辛香風味。

Each bottle of The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill 12 Year Old is drawn from a single cask of a single distillation – with each cask bottled one by one and producing a yield of no more than 300 bottles. No two casks – even of the same type and filled with spirit from the same distillation – will produce an identical single malt, so each bottling of The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill 12 Year Old is unique and unrepeatable, with each hand-numbered bottled carrying the number of the cask in which it was matured.

每一瓶蘇格蘭百富初次灌裝單一桶陳釀均取自於單一酒桶和單一酒廠的蒸餾，而每個酒廠的裝瓶量都不超過300瓶，就算是在同樣的酒廠同樣的蒸餾方式，出產的酒液也是各有千秋，因此每一瓶蘇格蘭百富初次灌裝單一桶陳釀都帶有其熟成的桶號和手工裝瓶的瓶號，獨一無二，無法複制。

To select the casks for bottling The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill 12 Year Old, The Balvenie’s Malt Master David Stewart samples hundreds of casks. He uses the exceptional nosing skills he has refined throughout his remarkable 50-year career at the distillery to select the whisky that shares a consistent character of sweetness and subtle vanilla oak.  David Stewart said. “There are very subtle differences from cask to cask and it gave me great satisfaction to sample these casks to find the finest ones. Each cask is unique and that is what makes each bottle of the Single Barrel First Fill 12 Year Old exceptional.” 

為了在眾多酒桶中挑選出優質的蘇格蘭百富初次灌裝單一桶陳釀，蘇格蘭百富的首席釀酒大師大衛司徒爾特先生嘗遍了數百個陳年酒桶，50年的經驗與如火純青的聞香技術挑選出的威士忌帶來了幾乎一致的甜香，香草的個性。大衛司徒爾特先生提到：“其實桶和桶之間差異非常之小，卻使我在品鑒這些威士忌挑選出最好的原酒時得到了極大的滿足。每個陳年的橡木桶都是很獨特的，也使得每瓶蘇格蘭百富初次灌裝單一桶陳釀也有些許自己的個性。

Nose: Toasted, sweet nose with all kinds of charred oak and spice. Hints of maple syrup and allspice, a little vanilla and sweet coffee.

Palate: A complex, thick palate with allspice and toffee apples. Cooked fruit and baking spices, hints of sponge cake and creamy caramel.

Finish: Long finish with lingering sweetness and spice.

Overall: An intense whisky with lots of influence from the cask. Great value for money too.
